I will sell my business when it makes a profit of a unknown amount a year, so that I can do something else.

This writing assignment for the Business I course will probably be the most unusual writing assignment ever. As I do not intend at all to sell my business to anyone. I will be breaking the rules in this essay in order to speak the truth.

Should I ever sell my business, it would be because it makes a poor amount of money, not a lot. When I think of selling a successful business I think of a the saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. If my business is making a considerable sum of money per year, I see no reason to sell it.

On the case of what I would do to once I sold my business, I would most likely use that money (after savings and tithes to the church) to start another business venture. However, the flaw I see in that is that I could use the already working business to fund the new one. It may take longer to make the amount of necessary money, but in the end, would leave me with the normal amount of money, plus the money made from the newest business venture.

God and Suffering

It is important to understand the part where he says that god can be good and allow moral evils because he gave us free-will. People kill because they have free-will to do so. God did not make this person kill. God also will justly punish those who kill out of their free-will.

On the subject of suffering caused by natural causes: He says that you may think it unjust, but unless you believe in God, you have no basis of justness other then your own personal opinion. On the other hand, if you believe in God, you will know that God does everything justly and for his own glory. Therefore, even though we may not understand it, we know that it is all for our good (even our own judgment is for our own good.)

Does Science Argue for or Against God?

I am very impressed with this video, it shows that just by using common sense you can see, that the odds of this universe to just happen to meet the standards needed for life to exist, is pretty much 1 to infinity.

 

Charles Martel: The Unpredictable General

During the Merovingian dynasty in France, the rulers became weak, lazy, and incompetent. They were like puppets, but not the actual rulers. The actual ruler was called “The Mayor of the Palace”.  The mayor basically was the king with a different name, they did everything, including: Raising money, waging war, leading armies and carrying out government decisions.

Charles Martel was the son of one such “Mayor”. This mayor was called Pepin. When Pepin died in 714 A.D his wife took his place by force. She even went as far as to throw her own son in jail. However, this didn’t stop Charles. Charles soon escaped prison and started gaining support of the nobles.

Charles first taste of battle was when a band of outlandish franks invaded. Charles was chosen to lead a battle to defeat them. However, the very number of franks caused Charles to wisely disengage from the battle and regroup (he later came back and crushed them in a different battle). This was the only time Charles Martel let any enemy force beat him on the battle field. Charles was clearly an excellent leader.

Charles was best known for his tactics, this is what made him such an extraordinary and unpredictable leader. He had three such tactics: Attacking when, where and how they least expected. He would attack them in broad daylight when no one would think anyone would be so insane to do so. He would fake retreats to make them think they were winning, then he would turn around and catch them like a pack of wolves on their prey.

However, Charles Martel did not stop at just the military. Charles soon took over the government from his mother. Charles did something that I did not expect when he first became the leader of France, he forgave the people who imprisoned him. This goes to show how unpredictable he was. Charles never called himself a king during his reign.

Charles, through his politics and his military prowess, was able to gain the loyalty of the surrounding country’s and expand his territory to include some of Southern Germany.

One noticeable enemy was the Islamic Muslims. They spread across the globe like wildfire on a stack of hay. They had recently conquered Iberia, but were still left wanting more, so they invaded France. This is one mistake that they would never forget.

As they chipped away at the borders of France, Charles moved out with his armies. He waited for them with a carefully planned out surprise attack. After springing the attack, there were several skirmishes before Charles proved once again that he could not be beaten by any invading force. It was this, battering and pure destruction in battle of the Muslims that gave Charles his nick-name Charles Martel or Charles The Hammer.

This battle was called the battle that saved Christianity from the Muslims. However, as you know, Christianity would live on even if the Muslims won. It was also this battle that stemmed the tide of the Muslim advance.

During Charles Martel reign there was no king, or better put, no puppet head ruler. He did appoint a king, but this king did soon die. Charles did not appoint a new king after this.

Sadly, as all things die in this world, Charles Martel, the unpredictable amazing general who never lost a second battle, did die in 741. But his sons continued his legacy in France for some time. His son, Pepin was also a fantastic general, just like his father. He did lose more battles than his father, but nevertheless, he was an amazing general.

Charles Martel is by far my favorite, and I believe will continue to be my favorite character in history. He was merciful to those who threw him cruelly in jail, he was his enemies worst nightmare, and his people’s leader. Charles The Hammer, let neither him nor his tactics and military prowess be ever forgotten.

 

 

 

Which Three Time-Allocation Changes Could Increase My Productivity the Most. Why?

First and foremost, television and gaming. Its like a drug. And a lot of the time at night I am playing some game or watching Doctor Who. This is a problem. I need to stop spending valuable time on tv and games, and put it on more important things like writing a newsletter for my business “Black Diamond Meats”.

Farm work can be changed as well. Over the past 6 or 7 years that my family and I have lived on a farm we have never had a problem with production of eggs and any animals young. However, recently we have encountered problems with both of these things. Chickens have stopped laying eggs entirely, and pigs have stopped producing piglets. While we still grasp onto a hope that maybe a little more time will do the trick. It is probably not going to work. Instead of wasting time hoping that more food and better housing will help. Perhaps we should change our chicken flock for a new flock (they are old birds as it is). And perhaps we should get new pigs and abandon the test with this new breed of pigs.

Focusing more time on our business is needed. Sometimes at night or during the day we will find something to fiddle with on the farm, when in fact we could be doing something that would bring more output with less time. Sending out newsletters brings up business, but we don’t always get one out at the end of the week. Our stock levels can be checked and adjusted on the site instead of trying to fix a broken tractor that never starts up anyway, and we wouldn’t use all that much anyway.

These three things should, and can, be changed. Proper time management is, as proven over and over again by Dr. Gary North, the most important thing you can have. It is necessary to become a successful business owner. However, that means that I will have to give things up, something that I may enjoy, like Doctor Who on a Friday night (that is not to say that time off is bad, after a hard day of work it is fine to relax at night, but it has to actually be a hard day of work).

Writing

Writing is, put very straightforwardly, a way of putting thoughts or ideas on paper. Anything that come off the top of your head, like a story, can be written as a way to remember something or maybe share your thoughts or ideas with someone else.

Writing is good for many things, but there are a few reasons that are widely known across the world: Story telling, remembering, or simply putting down your thoughts, just like this essay.

Writing a story is a good way to relax and take your mind off things or to entertain others with it. You can just start writing what first comes to your head and the rest will follow.

Everyone forgets things now and then, but with writing, you can go back and see what it is you forgot. It is very frustrating to forget something, and have nothing to go on as to what you forgot.

Putting down thoughts is probably the most common writing method in the world. This essay is just a bunch of my thoughts written down. News and letters to other people are examples of thoughts written down.

Like everything in this world, writing can be improved. I have studied grammar and literature in the 6th grade English class throughout the past year, but how has it helped me write better.

One way is through trial and error. Every single week of this course there is a writing assignment that must be written. I had managed to struggle my way through the first three weeks or so, but then I noticed that it was getting easier. Through reading books I learned new words in literature I was able to get through those tough spots where I couldn’t find out what to say in an essay. I learned how to properly put my thoughts down in a neat order of sentences to paragraphs to essays in grammar. And, through writing every week alone, I was able to better myself with the experience that I had from the past few weeks. Even now I write this essay with ease.

So, what will I do with writing in the future? Well, first I would like to use my writing skills to work in my business. Writing newsletters to site followers can always be improved. Also, I plan to better my skills until I can prove that even though I didn’t go to college as the system says I should, I can write just as well, or even better, then college level students.

Why is it Important to Study the History of Islam?

There are several reasons why it would be good to learn about Islam even though you may not be Muslim or part of the Islamic religion. First, it is the second biggest religion in the world (the biggest religion is Christianity), and it would be wise to know how such a big religion would think and act. Second, Islam’s growth is linked to the rest of the history course I am taking.  In this essay I will take a closer look at each of these reasons.

Why is it such a good idea to learn how Islam thinks and acts? First, you can’t argue with them if you don’t know what to disagree on. If you know nothing about them, you don’t know why you oppose them. Also, if you don’t know that their first reaction to “I am a Christian” is to kill you, then you are in a lot of trouble. If you don’t know how they react to things, you could end up making some very angry Muslims.

Second, in taking the 7’th grade history course I will be going over the times when Islam is at its peak, and taking effect in the world. If I don’t study Islam it will be harder to follow along with the course.

In summary, it is important to know your how other religions act and think so you can act accordingly, and also I will be confused, and making it more difficult for myself if I don’t study the history of Islam.
